Yearlong Programming Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce - Miami Beach Guest Miami Beach Guest currently responds to over thousands of inquiries each year regarding vacation planning, tours, complaint resolution and much more. The Center works closely with the City of Miami Beach, the GMCVB, and other tourist related entities to ensure that their resources on promoting the destination are coordinated and maximized. The Center is open and fully staffed Sunday through Saturday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Services currently offered by the Center include providing over 20 daily tours, creating and organizing customized group/convention tours, providing over 100 brochures, maps, guides, newspaper, and travel related publications, providing the MBVC On The Go Program to selected conferences at the Convention Center and Convention hotels, distributing of the Go Miami Card and the Miami Visitors Pass, assisting in public transportation information, assisting new Miami Beach residents, and mailing of tourist and relocation packages throughout the world. They will also be launching a destination wedding link to their website and continue to increase the promotion and distribution of the recently introduced Miami Beach IN Card; locally, nationally, and internationally. Miami Beach Watersports Center, Inc. – Miami Beach Watersports Center The Center kicks off each season in October with their annual Head of the Indian Creek Regatta. Other activities include winter & spring camp and regattas, summer camps, and various programs for youth and adults. Many universities will begin their annual migration to the Center for extended training camps beginning in December. In addition, the Center offers a conference space that serves as an added tourist draw. UNIDAD of Miami Beach, Inc. - The Customer and You - Certificate Program in Service This program will provide its participants with the opportunity to participate in a 4-hour program to gain skills needed in customer service. The program will be offered free of charge and will also provide potential Miami Beach employers with employees who have already obtained the skills needed to improve their customer service. The program is a result of a partnership with Florida International University who will be providing the instructor for the course as well as all of the course materials. A total of 16 half day training sessions will be offered on a monthly basis with approximately 25 participants per training; for a total of 400 participants. Five of the training sessions will be taking place at the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce for their members. October 2009 3B Productions - FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach This four day event, taking place October 14 – 17, 2009, is expected to bring famous designers from around the world to showcase their new collections. Past designers have included Tommy Hilfiger, Nicole Miller. Donna Karan, Jennifer Lopez, Betsey Johnson, Custo Barcelona, and many more. Events are expected to include a press registration and cocktail party, fashion shows, trade shows, and after parties. The event producer will also again partner with Red Dress and the American Heart Association. Fashion TV will televise the event and is expected to generate 300 million in confirmed viewership. November 2009 Miami Beach Community Development Corporatation c/o The Market Company - Collins Park Green Market and Monthly Art Walk This event has been designed as not only a weekly green market but also a monthly art fair. The market, beginning November 1, 2009 through April 25, 2010, will offer fresh produce, ethnic foods, plants and flowers and also display high-quality artwork, on a monthly basis. This project was developed as result of a growing interest in green tourism and healthy eating. An advisory committee composed of members of the arts community will collaborate and assist in the further promotion of the project. City of Miami Beach - Sleepless Night 2009 This event, taking place November 7 - 8, 2009, is a result of a collaboration of all of the City’s major cultural institutions, theaters, galleries, and arts organizations. It is an all night event modeled after Nuit Blanche in Paris and is the first of its kind to take place in the United States. Over 150 free events will take place between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. Events will include 300 participating artists featured in over 150 free exhibitions, installations, and performances at over 80 different locations throughout Miami Beach. All events will be free and open to the public and will take place throughout Miami Beach in 4 zones. Free shuttle buses and remote parking will be available to event attendees. Community AIDS Resource d/b/a Care Resource - 25th Anniversary of White Party Week - Muscle Beach White Party Week, celebrating its 25th anniversary, features cultural and musical events that attract nearly 15,000 people from around the world each year. Muscle Beach party is a noon to sunset dance-barefoot-in-the-sand party that takes place during the week of these prestigious events. White Party Week events, taking place November 25 – 30, 2009, will also include White Journey, Dolce, Cirque Blanc, a pool party, and Swan Song. Audi AG c/o SiiNC Agency - Audi Art Pavilion Miami Beach Audi will be creating a unique 4-story Art Pavilion in the 46th street spoil lot that will feature a weeklong exhibition uniting corporate activities, outstanding arts and culture, and quality tourism. Events, taking place November 30 – December 5, 2009 will include a welcome cocktail reception, opening party for international journalists, opening party for US VIPs, collectors’ breakfasts, curator tours, and an educational component for local schools. Celebrity appearances and live performances are in negotiations but have not been confirmed as of yet. December 2009 MCH Swiss Exhibition LTD – Art Basel Miami Beach 2009 The eighth edition of this 4-day international art fair, taking place December 2 – 6, 2009, will include events such as a main art show, Art Positions, Art Basel Conversations, “Oceanfront Experience”, “Garden Café”, Art Projects, Welcome Party, Goodbye Party, Art Loves Music, Art Loves Film, museum openings, and collector’s tours to private collections and exhibitions. This event anticipates creating not only a platform for sales of contemporary and modern art, but to also reach out to other cultural and entertainment fields such as architecture, design, music, film, etc. Plum TV will also be producing a multi-part coverage of the event. Orange Bowl Committee – 2009-2010 FedEx Orange Bowl and Ancillary Events This year’s Orange Bowl will be played on January 5, 2010 at the newly renamed Landshark Stadium and will be televised on Fox Sports and broadcast through ESPN Radio and XM Satellite Radio. Events surrounding the games are expected to include team airport arrivals, team welcome receptions, coaches’ luncheons, Orange Bowl Rhapsody in Orange, a kick-off party, children’s outing, spouse’s outing, Orange Bowl Basketball Classic, and the Budweiser Orange Bowl Tailgate Party. The campaign will take place between December 30, 2009 and January 6, 2010. January 2010 Comedy Festival Productions, LLC - South Beach Comedy FestivalThis 4-day festival, taking place January 20 – 23, 2010, will feature acts from across the country which will include a broad comedic focus of Urban, Latin, New Talent and A-List performers. Over 30 events will be taking place throughout Miami Beach, that will include 26 comedy shows, 1 Red Carpet VIP party, 2 luncheons, 4 after parties, and numerous executive dinners. The festival continues its partnership with Comedy Central as its exclusive media partner. A one hour special will be aired on Comedy Central. Anticipated performers and TV personalities include Chelsea Handler and Dave Chappelle, satellite radio’s most requested comedian Mitch Fatel, and a dozen more of today’s funniest personalities. PR Racing – ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon and Tropical 5K A full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles) and Tropical 5K (3.1 miles), taking place between January 29 and 31, 2010 are taking place on the streets of Miami and Miami Beach and are expected to draw thousands of runners from all around the world. Events are also expected to include a press conference, health and fitness expo, and a Finish Line Festival. A one hour recorded highlight/recap show of the event will air on Comcast Sports Southeast to approximately 17.4 million households across 12 states. February 2010 National Marine Manufacturers Association - Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail This 5-day event, in its 69th year, will occupy 2 million square feet of exhibit space and will attract approximately 100,000 people to the destination, between February 11 and 15, 2010. It is the primary boat and accessory sales event in the world. In addition to the exhibiting of over 2,000 companies and 3,000 boats on displays, events are expected to include over 50 seminars and presentations on a variety of industry- related topics. Florida International University - 2010 Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival This event, celebrating its ninth anniversary, is a four day culinary and spirits celebration that brings world acclaimed chefs and the country’s best wineries to Miami Beach for a series of events, between February 25 and 28, 2010. In addition, the event spotlights local culinary masters as well as wine and spirits from around the world. Events are expected to include 40 – 50 events including sit down dinners, late night parties, lifestyle food & wine pairing seminars, wine educations seminars and outdoor tenting events. In addition, The Food Network will produce taped programming of the Festival in which a minimum of 85 million households are expected to be generated. March 2010 National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce - Winter Party Festival This event, taking place March 3 – 8, 2010, is a five day celebration of social and cultural events targeted at the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community. The week of events is expected to include a welcome reception, beach party, women’s events such as a cocktail reception and jazz brunch, a pool party, ‘Glamour Unleashed’, and in store events on Lincoln Road. The festival is expected to draw attendees from around the US, as well as, Canada, Europe, South American, and Australia. Miami Dade College Foundation - 2010 Miami International Film Festival This festival, taking place March 5 – 14, 2010, brings the best of world cinema to South Florida. The event is expected to feature a program which will include over 180 film screenings of 100 films, 277 seminars, and events to an audience of 75,000. Other events will include REEL Seminars, Encuentros sessions, filmmaker and film society happy hours, celebrity events, filmmaker and industry lunches, dinners, and receptions, industry screenings, guest services breakfasts, VIP receptions, juror breakfasts, juror meetings, after-hours events and a live performance event. The event will be covered by AXN who in turn will produce and air a 30-minute special program featuring films shown at the Festival expected to generate a minimum of 200 million viewers. US Road Sports of Florida, LLC - 13.1 Marathon Miami Beach This event is a half marathon consisting of 13.1 miles, of which 100% of the route will take participants through Miami Beach. The event, taking place March 7, 2010, is expected to draw 3,000 participants during its second year. The marathon will be one of eight races taking place throughout the country to include Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis, and Boston. This race will be the first of its kind encouraging its participants to travel to the other cities that make up the eight race series. Winter Music Conference - 25th Annual Winter Music Conference This event, in its 25th year, is one of the most acclaimed music industry gatherings in the US. The event, taking place March 23 – 27, 2010, attracts the world’s most lauded and innovative artists, DJs and professionals and nearly 70,000 attendees to participate in over 160 events to include seminars, panels, workshops and performance events. In addition, Over 500 industry events and meetings are scheduled to be presented over the 5 day event. arteamericas, Inc. - arteaméricas This event is the only art fair of its kind that features galleries from around the world showcasing Latin American art. Events, taking place March 25 – 29, 2010, are expected to include a preview party, a four day art fair, and conferences taking place during each day of the fair. A total of approximately 60 galleries are expected to participate. April 2010 Michael Epstein Sports Productions, Inc. - Nautica South Beach Triathlon This event, in its third year in Miami Beach, is the sister event to the Malibu Triathlon, the premiere event in the sport of triathlon. In addition to the triathlon and Olympic distance race, events, taking place April 10 and 11, 2010, will also include an event expo, sponsor and local vendors booths, free fitness clinics, a VIP brunch, Kids Fun Zone, a Nautica Kids Run and Tot Trot, and an awards ceremony. The event is expected to be televised nationally on Fox Sports Network through a 30 minute show, reaching approximately 80 million homes. The contract is currently being finalized. Dade Community Foundation c/o Miami Beach Gay Pride - Miami Beach Gay Pride 2010 This event in its second year is a collaboration of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) community that will create community oriented activities geared toward this niche group. Events will include a parade/festival on Ocean Drive, a kick-off reception, and evening show, a Lambda showcase theater event, an after-party, and other events that are currently in the planning stages. The main event will take place April 17, 2010 on Ocean Drive, between 5th and 15th Streets. The Polo Life, LLC - Miami Beach Polo World Cup This four day international polo tournament, taking place April 22 – 25, 2010, will bring six international teams from around the world to compete for ‘La Martina Trophy’ as part of the Miami Beach Polo World Cup. In addition, 8 international women’s teams will travel to Miami Beach for the South Beach Women’s Polo Cup II. Other events are expected to include a player presentation/press conference, women’s welcome dinner/cocktail party, team and sponsor presentations, matches taking place Friday through Sunday, a kick off party, a horse parade, and other social events. Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival - 12th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival Entering its 12th year, this event taking place primarily on Miami Beach, is planning an impressive event with 33 programs, 9 parties and receptions, over 100 unique film presentations, and panel discussions, from April 23 – May 2, 2010. The events are expected to attract over than 75 filmmakers and VIP industry guests, and an audience of over 11,000 to Miami Beach. The combination of premiere programming, a consistent history of providing a springboard for developing filmmakers and industry and expanding allure as the largest and most anticipated GLBT cultural event in the Southeastern U.S., combine to create one of the most important and broad reaching institutions for GBLT community. Through a partnership with Comcast, the festival will be featured on the CNN Headline News Show “Newsmakers” to an estimated 2,100,000 households. City of Miami Beach c/o the Bass Museum of Art - Egyptian Gallery at the Bass Museum of Art The new Egyptian Gallery being created on the first floor of the Bass Museum of Art is expected to draw visitors from around the world, beginning April 28, 2010 and running through the end of the year. The exhibit will become a permanent display at the Museum and will showcase their prized Egyptian Painted Sycamore Fig Wood Sarcophagus and mummy within a dedicated gallery space. Over 37 events are expected to take place to include the celebratory opening weekend of private and public screenings, lectures, demonstrations, concerts, dedicated family days, special teen events, and group tours. May 2010 Aqua Foundation for Women - Aqua Girl Festival 2010 Aqua Girl Festival is a 5-day event promoting the strength, health, quality, and visibility of lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women, taking place May 6 – 16, 2010. A total of thirteen events, of which ten are taking place in Miami Beach, are expected to take place which will include a movie night, VIP event, art exhibit , fashion show, dance parties, a pool party, a dine around event, evening dance event, a jazz brunch, a tea dance, and a closing night party. June 2010 Film Life Inc. - Film Life’s 14th annual American Black Film Festival This 4-day event, taking place June 23 – 26, 2010, is in its 14th year and is dedicated to supporting the Black Film community. The festival is recognized internationally as the premier festival for cinema made for, by, and about persons of African descent. Approximately 30 events are expected to take place to include film premieres and screenings, panels and symposiums, workshops, hospitality expo, marquee evening events, the ABFF Independent Film Awards, and private receptions. Vinamericas - Florida International Wine Challenge This event, in its second year, is the leading international wine competition within the state of Florida. A total of 400 wines from 20 different countries will be tasted by a board of renowned wine industry professionals, June 26 - 27, 2010. Event attendees will experience a unique wine tasking event at the end of each day of competition. A travel package will be developed to encourage weekend travel to the destination. July 2010 Swimwear Association of Florida - SwimShow 2011 This 4-day event, taking place July 17 – 20, 2010, is the largest swimwear tradeshow in the world. It attracts swimwear industry leaders, buyers, retailers, designers, manufacturer, and a large influx of media from around the world. A total of 350 exhibitors representing 2,000 lines will converge at the Miami Beach Convention Center drawing over 2,000 buyers from the United States and 50 different countries. Events in addition to the trade show are expected to include a fashion show, pre fashion show cocktail party, a swimwear trend presentation and seminar, a swim lounge, happy hour cocktail party with informal modeling, a kick off cocktail event, and a breakfast bar. August 2010 Salsa Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Salsa Lovers - Miami Salsa Congress This event will take place over 5 full days, August 5 – 8, 2010, and is expected to attract a wide variety of people from around the world. Events are expected to include a kick-off party, dance workshops, a tradeshow, evening parties, pool parties, and dance competitions; totaling over 12 events. Inffinito Art & Cultural Foundation - 14th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami The Brazilian Film Festival of Miami, now in its 14th year, has accompanied the resurgence of Brazilian Cinema. Brazil’s Ministry of Culture and the Audiovisual Secretariat recognizes the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami as a Festival that promotes market, business opportunities and cultural exchange between the US and Brazil. This emphasizes the Festival’s main objectives of providing strong platform for the commercialization, distribution and exhibition of Brazilian film within the United States and creating a successful channel to enhance cultural awareness in the US. Events, taking place August 13 - 21, 2010, will include competitive screenings, digital screenings, and marketplace seminars. Miami Hispanic Ballet Corp. - XV International Ballet Festival of Miami 2009 The International Ballet Festival of Miami is in its 15th year and the only one of its kind in the state of Florida. To celebrate the anniversary, the event, taking place August 27 – September 12, 2010, will bring principal dancers from 15 of the world’s most admired ballet companies to perform in the City of Miami Beach. The Festival is expected to bring the works of over 120 talented artists and choreographers from more than 25 international and national ballet companies. In Miami Beach, the festival will feature a contemporary ballet performance, the Festival Closing Gala of the Stars, dance film series, and ballet master classes. September 2010 Exclusive Sports Marketing - Miami Beach September Sports Series The Miami Beach September Sports Series, taking place September 4 & 5, 2010 and September 11 & 12, 2010, will televise and showcase two of Florida’s premier grassroots sports programs: the Dig the Beach Volleyball Championship and the Family Fitness Weekend. This series will offer events/ recreational opportunities for athletes of all ages, abilities, and disciplines. Events will include a 5K, Triathlon and Duathlon, Kids Duathlon, and a two day volleyball championship tournament. The events will be televised on Comcast Sports Southeast with two shows airing two times to a total of 6.2 million households.
